The Human Scale Relief Fund was created by Colorado Mesa University faculty and staff to assist employees of CMU who find themselves in a financial situation beyond their control and are in need of assistance. It was created as part of CMU's commitment to being a "Human Scale University." As a community deeply rooted in the values of love, dignity, and resilience, this fund provides an opportunity for CMU faculty and staff to support each other during times of hardship. All gifts made to the fund by CMU employees are matched by CMU. 100% of the gifts will go to colleagues facing challenges.

Beyond financial support, the Human Scale Relief Fund Advisory Committee can assist employees experiencing hardship with other types of support, including counseling, temporary housing, and childcare. The Relief Fund exemplifies how CMU, as a model of the world we want to create, can collectively extend care and compassion, ensuring no member of our community feels alone in difficult times. The fund not only aligns with CMU values, but also strengthens the sense of belonging and mutual support that defines our university.

 Values Connection:

  • Love: By contributing to the fund, we extend ourselves for the growth and well-being of others.
  • Dignity: This initiative honors the intrinsic worth of everyone, ensuring they are supported in moments of need.
  • Resilience: Through community support, we help our colleagues’ overcome challenges and adapt to hardships, fostering a resilient campus environment.
