Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. They all contribute to our overall well-being as it affects how we think, feel and act. Emotional health indicates an awareness and acceptance of one's thoughts and feelings. Social health encompasses connection with community, family, friends, and co-workers in ways that enrich your life and the lives of those around you.
The absence of mental health concerns does not equal positive mental health & wellness. There is a lot we can do to accentuate the positive and shield ourselves from depression and other mental health concerns.

People often don't get the mental health services they need because they don't know where to start. Talk to your primary care doctor or another health professional about mental health problems, ask them to connect you with the right mental health services. Provides free resources & information to help struggling individuals & families get their lives back on track, including relapse prevention skills.
The Colorado State Employee Assistance Program (C-SEAP) is a professional assessment, referral, and short-term counseling service offered to all CMU employees with work-related or personal concerns all free of charge. It also serves as a resource for supervisors and manager seeking individual managerial consultation, assistance with conflict resolution or help with resolution of work-place traumatic events.
To schedule an appointment, call C-SEAP anytime Monday thru Friday between 8am and 5pm. When you contact C-SEAP, a staff specialist will ask you for some general information and set up an appointment for you to meet with a counseling professional assigned to the C-SEAP office that is closest to you. C-SEAP does not disclose that you are coming to our office for counseling. Counseling services are strictly confidential.

Early Warning Signs
Not sure if you or someone you know is living with a mental health problem? Experiencing one or more of the following feelings or behaviors can be an early warning sign of a problem:
- Eating or sleeping too much or too little
- Pulling away from people and usual activities
- Having low or no energy
- Feeling like nothing matters
- Having unexplained aches & pains
- Smoking, drinking or using drugs more than usual
- Feeling unusually confused, forgetful, on edge, angry, upset, worried or scared
- Yelling or fighting with family & friends
- Experiencing severe mood swings that cause problems in relationships
- Having persistent thoughts and memories you can't get out of your head
- Hearing voices or believing things things that are not true
- Thinking of harming yourself or others
- Inability to perform daily tasks like taking care of your kids or getting to work

Hamilton Recreation Center
Regular exercise can help ease depression by releasing feel-good brain chemicals (endorphins); reducing immune system chemicals that could worsen depression and increasing body temperature which can have calming effects on the body. This on-campus facility provides several fitness services, supported by the newest equipment and latest technology. The HRC houses an indoor track, basketball & racquetball courts, an Olympic-caliber pool and fitness equipment. Group exercise classes, Nutritional Services, Massage therapy and more are available to members. More information is available on the Rec Center website.
