Colorado Mesa University's LPN to BSN program is for students who are licensed practical nurses (LPN) who desire to complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and be prepared for their registered nurse (RN) license. This program requires in-person attendance.
The LPN to BSN nursing program is designed for Licensed Practical Nurses to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, opening up greater employment opportunities, increased compensation, and more job security. This program integrates nursing theory, practice and science with a liberal arts education. The potential student must demonstrate college-level proficiency in reading, writing and mathematics in order to be admitted to this program. This program has selective admission requirements and requirements may change from year to year. It is the student's responsibility to obtain the current admission requirements.
The baccalaureate program has been developed to prepare a highly competent professional with the education necessary to meet the increasing need for quality health care in society today. The bachelor’s degree also provides a nurse with the foundation for graduate study in nursing. The LPN to BSN program requires in-person attendance on campus and local clinical, three to four days per week.
Why choose the PN and LPN to BSN path?
The Practical Nurse program (one-school year in length) prepares the student to be a direct caregiver in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and ambulatory care-clinic settings. The PN program is the first step in the two-step nursing “Career Ladder” program. Completion of the Practical Nurse certificate allows students to progress to the second step of the Career Ladder, which is the Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (LPN-BSN). The LPN-BSN program is held at the Colorado Mesa University (CMU) campus. Each year, this program has a cohort in Grand Junction, and a separate cohort in Montrose. The application deadline is September 15th each year.
The Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (LPN-BSN) Program prepares the graduate as a generalist to provide competent nursing care in a variety of healthcare settings. Students will develop nursing skills in caring for a diverse population in today's healthcare settings.
