The forensic science minor is housed in the natural sciences, focusing on biology and chemistry. The coursework provides a base for those who wish to work in a crime laboratory or as a crime scene investigator. These people are also known as criminalists.
The students who take this minor generally have majors in biology and chemistry, although some double-major, or minor, in criminal justice.
Many criminalists have only a bachelor’s degree, but it is increasingly common for professionals to have advanced degrees.
