Forensic Science is science applied to the law. Almost any academic discipline has a forensic application. CMU currently has four forensic minors that apply to specific disciplines. All minors rely on the same set of core forensic courses; this encourages interaction among students from different disciplines who wish to be part of the forensic sciences. In addition, there is an active student club.
In addition to standard classroom training, our programs utilize the Forensic Investigation Research Station, one of only six facilities in the country that use human remains to study decomposition. The Forensic Investigation Program also uses CMU’s Crime Scene House, which is shared with criminal investigation courses and law enforcement training.
