CMU Cycling and CMU Tech's Mobile Learning Lab visits Fruita

The Colorado Mesa Cycling Team had an amazing time visiting fifth graders at Monument Ridge Elementary School in Fruita to celebrate learning and the power of higher education. The team motivated students to dream big for their future and be excited about it.

The students also got a surprise visit from Olivia Cummings, a CMU cyclist who competed in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Students were able to see a real-life example of courage, resilience, and working to accomplish a dream.

CMU’s Sturm-ANB Bank Mobile Learning Lab was also on site and provided students a chance to explore mechatronics and learn about technical education.

Olivia Cummings emphasized the importance of the lab, saying: “Exposing them to all the different opportunities that they have, and knowing that there are other options, is more motivating for them and more encouraging that they can do whatever they want.”

That truly is the hope for the Where We Become Mavericks initiative: to inspire young minds to pursue a path after their K-12 education journey is over and to get kids excited about their future and what they can accomplish.
