Vice President for Academic Affairs Kurt Haas, PhD
Haas started his career as an assistant professor of English two decades ago and now holds the second highest position in the university. We delve into his background and the reasons he has remained at CMU throughout his tenure. We also discuss the role of humanities including literary canon and Haas personal favorites of Chaucer and Shakespeare.
Assistant Professor and Program Director for the Physician Assistant Program Amy Bronson, EdD
Bronson has an eclectic background ranging from degrees in speech to medical sciences to educational leadership. She has also been a certified physician since 2008 and has practiced plastic and reconstructive surgery. She credits her journey to the women who have come before her that broke bonds and did the unexpected. She helped to start the physician assistant (PA) program at CMU, which began with the first cohort of 16 students a year ago. Bronson describes the program and its heavy emphasis on community service and engagement.
Head Softball Coach Erik Kozel
CMU's baseball program brought Kozel to the university as an undergraduate student-athlete. After a stint as a professional baseball player, Kozel returned as an assistant coach for the CMU Softball Team. Seven years later he is now the head coach. He discusses what is unique about softball culture and what they are doing as a team to keep their winning tradition alive and strong.
