Application Deadlines:

  • July 1 for Fall Semester Admission
  • December 1 for Spring Semester Admission

Start your application process here:  CMU Admissions. At the link, you will create and submit a graduate student application.

To complete the application process, prepare the following items:

  • Official transcripts of all college and university work

    • Applicants must request transcripts from each institution attended or from a transcript service.

    • The Kinesiology Department and Sport Management program can review unofficial transcripts directly from students for advising purposes only.

    • Recent CMU graduates (within 1 year) may submit transcripts from MAVzone. 

  • A formal Statement of Goals:  A Statement of Goals should explain, at the graduate level, in at least 500 words why the Applicant wants to be admitted into the program and how this degree supports his/her career goals. 
  • A current resume or curriculum vitae
  • Two Recommendations from individuals who can speak to the applicant's academic potential and professional capabilities

    • One should be from a university faculty member who is familiar with the applicant's academic abilities.

    • One should come from a supervisor who has evaluated the applicant's current or prior work.

    • Applicant will be prompted to enter the name and email of each person from whom a recommendation is requested during the application process. The system automatically generates an email to each recommender requesting they complete and submit a Recommendation. Once the Recommendation Form is submitted, it becomes part of the electronic application packet.

  • Test scores, (if required) from either the Educational Testing Services for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), from the Psychological Corporation for the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), or from the Graduate Management Admissions Test(GMAT)

    • All Test Scores must be from within the last 5 years.

    • Applicants should request test scores be sent to Colorado Mesa University Admissions Office at the testing center on the day of the exam.

    • The GRE code for CMU is 4484.

    • The MAT code for CMU is 2630.

    • The GMAT selection for the CMU is via menu selection at the test site.  Note that the GMAT may still list CMU as Mesa State College.

    • If you have not yet taken a graduate exam, please research each of these exams to determine which one is best for you in terms of knowledge assessed, exam length, exam location, cost, etc.

If you started the application process prior to October 16, 2019, you will need to reapply through the online application process via CMU Admissions.
