The Art & Design Department would like to invite you to our annual Open House that has transformed from an event for high school students into an outdoor art extravaganza, welcoming university students, high school students, middle school students and community members alike. Join us on the third Thursday of October, 10:00am - 3:00pm for Artober Fest 2024!

Dust Off Your Hands For The Sidewalk Chalk Contest!

Limited to eight teams of high school students, with prizes awarded to first place. Teams are limited to four students. (Prizes will be provided for four students.) Chalk is provided, but teams can bring their own chalk. Absolutely NO oil-based chalks/pastels or spray chalk is allowed. Pre-registration is required, and the competition is from 10am to Noon across the Delta Field next to the Science Building. Winners will be announced on site at 1:00pm. Email [email protected] by September 30, 2024, to register your teams.

Explore Your Creativity With MED's Temporary Graffiti Wall!

Explore your creativity! Join MED and experiment with the Temporary Graffiti Wall; spray paint provided. MED store will be providing schwag for purchase which will go for funding the student group’s scholarly activities.

Throwing PARTY!

Throw something on the wheel with Clay Club. The Ceramics faculty and students will demonstrate wheel throwing and will teach anyone who is interested in trying. Wheels and clay are provided. There are “Blind Wheel Throwing” and “One Hand Wheel Throwing” contests with prizes! Clay Club will have an assortment of student ceramics pieces for sale.

Print It Up!

The Printmaking Guild will be demonstrating live printing of woodcuts onto T-shirts and other apparel. These items will be for sale. Bring your own T-shirts to be printed and receive a discount.

Turn Up The Heat With Sculpture Guild!

Sculpture Guild will cast sculptures in molten iron during an Iron Pour. They will begin pouring around 10AM and won’t stop until all the molds are poured. There will be opportunities to win sculpture related prizes throughout the day!

How To Get An Artober T-Shirt 

Complete an Artober Fest punch card and receive a free Artober Fest T-Shirt, while supplies last. All of the T-shirts are designed and printed by hand by MED (Mesa Emerging Designers). A new design every year! 

Start your day at Artober Fest at the Information Station where we will be giving out punch cards. After you have visited all of the booths and received a punch turn in your completed punch card to the Information Station and receive your free T-Shirt, while supplies last.

My name is Rowdy, and I love to work hard, play games, and above all, support The Herd! I am always energetic and ready to go! If you see me around campus or at our home games, come say hi. Event Location and Parking Information 

Artober Fest is an outdoor event located on the Delta Field (#37 on the map) on the CMU campus. Please see the map below for details. If we need to change the location due to weather we will send out an announcement.

If you are a community member attending the event or if you are with a school, but driving your own vehicle click the link below to purchase a day permit parking pass that will allow you to park in any lot except reserved lots. Commuter lot CP9 is closest to the event location. Please see the link below for details.

If you are attending Artober Fest as a school and will need to park a bus for the day please email the Art & Design department.

Bus parking is very limited so email as soon as feasible to reserve a spot.
