Graduate Admission Requirements
Colorado Mesa University encourages applications from individuals meeting the following criteria:
- Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrate evidence of strong academic background and ability to pursue advanced study.
- Demonstrate evidence of dedication and promise to the field of education as a professional leader.
- Have excellent English reading, writing and critical thinking skills.
- Possess competence in the use of education technology.
- Have and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Hold a current Colorado Teaching License--required for Principal or SPED licensure programs.
- If only pursuing gradaute certificate endorsements, as in principal or in SPED licensure, candidate must also hold a master's degree.
Application Deadlines
- Summer Start - all of our graduate programs have a summer start.
- March 15th is the preferred application deadline for all CTE graduate programs.
- May 1st is the last day materials may be accepted for admission for the summer term.
- Fall or spring admission to our SPED, Educational Leadership Programs, or Applied Studies degrees may be possible--please check before applying by emailing [email protected].
- The ITL program (Initial Teacher Licensure graduate program) offers summer admission ONLY; after May 15th, admission is closed until the following year.

Application
A $50 application fee is collected when you submit your application
Step 3
Colorado Teaching License
Current Teaching license required for Principal and SPED licensure candidates. Prospective students of other education programs who do not hold a license should contact [email protected] to inquire about licensure requirements.

Step 4
Letters of Recommendation
Three (3) professional recommendations are required for the MA application. We request that you provide your references with the CTE evaluation forms: one (1) Form B - Supervisor recommendation is required for all programs; for the MA, two (2) Form B - Colleague recommendations are required; for the SPED or Principal graduate certificates only one (1) Form B - Colleague recommendation is required.
Step 5
Documentation of Experience
Submit documentation of teaching, leadership, and/or work experience. Teaching & Leadership and SPED applicants may submit a resume or CV instead.
Step 6
Statement of Purpose
Complete the statement of purpose commenting on your personal educational philosophy and interest in the program.
Step 7
Internship Supervisor/Mentor Commitment
ONLY for Educational Leadership applicants.
This step is Only for EDLD applicants.
