Hi! My name is Jurnee and I am from Nacogdoches, TX which happens to be the oldest town in TX. I have worked in early childhood for 3 years now. I have been at Mini/Little Mavs for 1 1/2 years now. I have experience with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years and 7 to 17 years. I am currently working in PK2 but in the past I have been a float lead assisting in all of the classrooms with each age group. I am a student at CMU studying Early Childhood Education and Liberal Arts with a dual focus in Psychology and Teacher Education. In the future I plan to attend grad school to become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. I believe that every child is unique and has the potential to grow and learn in their own way. I value creating a safe and nurturing environment where children feel respected, valued and supported in their development. I believe in providing hands on, experiential learning opportunities that cater to each child’s individual interests, strengths and needs. I believe that play is an essential part of ECE. Play allows children to explore, experiment, problem solve, and develop social skills. I also value building strong partnerships with families as they play a crucial role in a students learning experience. Working in ECE is incredibly rewarding because of the joy, curiosity, and enthusiasm that young children bring to the learning process. Witnessing their growth, progress and achievements is fulfilling and motivates me to provide the best possible learning experiences for them.
