Colorado Mesa University is partnering with the State Office of Economic Development in the Colorado Jump Start Program. This program requires a business relocating to Colorado to offer a product or service that is new to the state. To receive special tax benefits, they must align with a university or other institution of higher learning.
CMU has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Jump Start program and is currently working with ten businesses. As part of this arrangement, the participating businesses must provide support to related CMU disciplines as well as offer internships to CMU students.
This is another example of the strong ties CMU has with community partners.
Additional Internship Opportunities
Internship opportunities at CMU are numerous. Companies that offer internship positions range from programs on campus and local employers to nationally recognized organizations and government agencies. Experience has shown that internships are a valuable educational experience and they provide a solid base for future employment. Participating in an internship is an opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world situations and some majors require students to complete an internship.
