If registration for the next semester is coming up, students can find courses by selecting the 'Studying Here' tab on the CMU home page, and under the Course and Degree Planning section click 'Course registration for current students'. On this page, you will find the "Look up classes" button to find the semester course offerings.
- Core required courses are guaranteed to be offered in the designated semester; there are a few courses offered once a year either in Fall or Spring. Plan accordingly; talk to your advisor.
- Electives and all the courses that are offered in the next Spring or Fall can be predicted looking at the previous semesters. To look at previous semester offerings, click the “Register for Classes” App on your MAVzone dashboard and click the “Lookup classes” tab on that page and select appropriate Term. This may not be always accurate; confirm with the professor or your advisor.
- There's also a more reliable 2-year course planning calendar published by Academic Affairs that can be found here: https://www.coloradomesa.edu/academic-affairs/documents/combined-final-matrix.pdf .
- You might have a hold on your account.
- If you have a hold, log onto your MAVzone to find out what the hold is. Click the “My Account” tab, select “student” and then “View Holds” in your MAVzone.
- To resolve a hold, please call or email the department listed on the hold, speak to your advisor, or call IRIS.
- You can also view holds by logging onto your CMU mobile app from your smartphone under the “Holds” tab.
- You may not be of the correct class standing or may not have taken a prerequisite class needed to take the course you are trying to add.
- Speak to your advisor or the professor teaching the course to discuss the requirements.
- The class may be closed or full.
- Talk to your advisor and the professor teaching the class to see if you can either receive an override to join the course or find another section of the course. To discover additional sections, click the “Register for Classes” App on your MAVzone dashboard and click the “Lookup classes” tab on that page.
Under the “Applications” tab, view your DegreeWorks report. Within this report, classes that you are required to take to fulfill your degree requirements will appear with a red, green, or blue checkbox to the left of them. An empty red checkbox indicates that you still need to take that course, while a blue box with a tilde (~) means that you are currently enrolled in that class, and a green box with a checkmark appears when you have completed that course.
To view a program sheet for any degree, go to Colorado Mesa University’s home page and select “Studying Here” and under the Academics section, the first option is “Catalog & Degree Requirements”. This link will direct you to the most current catalog year of degree program sheets. These sheets will have the full class requirements for any given degree, as well as a suggested semester-by-semester layout.
Make sure to select your correct program year, which is generally the year that you began taking classes at CMU. If you began in 2015, this means you need a 2015 program sheet for your degree. At the top of the program listings, there are Previous Year’s Program Requirements, and that is where to search for your correct academic year program sheet.
When in doubt, talk to your academic advisor.
- It's a good idea to talk to your advisor about your graduation plan and make sure you're on track and all the core courses and the electives will be available when you need them.
- The semester prior to completion of all coursework,
graduating students must sit down with your advisor and make a plan to graduate. - Make your Final Graduation Plan with all the required courses you'll need to graduate on the DegeeWorks and ask your advisor to verify and lock it.
- Follow the detailed Graduation Instructions section here: https://www.coloradomesa.edu/registrar/graduation.html for deadlines and Intent to Graduate form you must submit before the deadline
Depending on the date, you can add and drop classes in your MAVzone. After the add/drop deadline, you will need to fill out one of these forms: https://www.coloradomesa.edu/registrar/forms.html.
Make sure to check the add and drop dates here: https://www.coloradomesa.edu/registrar/dates.html
