Join CMU's Premiere Vocal Ensemble

Mesa OutLoud! (MOL) is holding open auditions for four members (1 alto, 1 tenor, 1 bass or baritone and 1 vocal percussionist) for the 2024-25 academic year. Auditions will include singing, ear-training and speaking. If chosen, rehearsals are arranged by the director and are typically MW from 5-6pm with occasional Saturday commitments. In addition, members of MOL will be required to return to school for a week-long rehearsal period, August 12-16, 2024. Because of the group's growing touring and performance schedule, members must commit to a full year's membership. Members of MOL receive a scholarship.

Please prepare and bring to the audition:
• Two 16-bar cuttings of songs that contrast in tempo and in style. Styles should include at least one CCM-style song (pop, rock, jazz, RnB, etc.); the second may be either CCM or selected from music theatre repertoire.
• Sheet music that is properly marked and in the correct key for the provided accompanist.

Formed in 2014 for a performance at the Taste of CMU event at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, President Foster and the Board of Trustees decided to create a permanent community outreach and touring ensemble in the Department of Theatre Arts. The result was Mesa OutLoud! Under the direction of CMU’s director of Music Theatre Jeremy Franklin and Department of Theatre Arts Head Mo LaMee, Mesa OutLoud is a show ensemble that focuses on contemporary commercial music from the American Songbook and the Broadway stage to current chart-topping favorites. The group performs regularly across the state as well as at local events like the Farmer’s Market, Downtown Tree Lighting and CMU graduation ceremonies. The members are comprised of scholarship students from the music theatre, acting/directing, and dance programs within the Department of Theatre Arts at CMU.
