The CMU 437CO Art Gallery is pleased to announce our newest show: Space Cowboy.

Created by Emilie Odeile & Ken Chapin/ Dundee & Lee.

At the center if Space Cowboy, a towering yarn rocket lifts toward the sky wearing a cowboy hat - joining two familiar symbols of the American West into one unexpected form.

Made by hand from a material often assocaited with warmth, clothing, blankets, and home, the sculpture transforms yarn into something monumental.  Its soft surface and ambitious scale invite both wonder and recognition, connecting everyday craft to the larger dream of exploration.

Space Cowboy speaks to imagination, optimism, and the long human desire to look beyond the horizon to look beyond the horizon.  It asks us to consider who gets to dream, who gets to explore, and what happens when a child in a small town looks up at the stars and sees a place they might belong.

The frontier isn't gone.  It's just higher now.

Stop by Friday, August 7th 2026 - Friday, August 28th, 2026, to see this exhibition! The show will have an opening reception on Friday, July 7th, 2026, 5:00-8:00 pm. Artists will speak at 5:30. We hope to see you there!
