Hi everyone! My name is Josue Acevedo. I am a native Spanish speaker and a proud first-generation student with a deep passion for academia and community development. My family is originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, but I grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado. I consider myself an explorer who enjoys taking risks and going on adventures.
I attended multiple institutions but eventually completed my Bachelor's in Applied Mathematics at Metropolitan State University. My passion lies in mathematics and its real-world applications and potential for groundbreaking discoveries.
However, my biggest passion is my community. I am grateful for all the people and programs that helped me get to where I am now. Having gone through the college process as a first-generation student, I want to use my experience to help those who might not know exactly what they want to do or how to get there.
While working with TRIO Upward Bound, I was amazed by the heart, motivation, and potential of all of our students. From the moment I joined, I knew I wanted to help guide these students toward successful futures. I am excited to support and watch these incredible young scholars reach new heights!
