Players Take a Break From the Court to Serve the Community

While most of the Grand Valley was fast asleep, 15 Mavericks rolled themselves out of bed before the sun was up. It was the week of Thanksgiving, and the Colorado Mesa University men’s basketball team wasn’t heading to the court or class, but to North Avenue to serve the community.

Organized by CMU assistant men’s basketball coach Sean Evans, the team — along with head coach Mike Dunlap and assistant coach Skyler Burgess — arrived at HomewardBound on Sunday, having played Emporia State University late the night before, to serve breakfast to those in the community experiencing homelessness.
