The official hub for news and stories from Colorado Mesa University

Colorado Mesa University proudly celebrated the hard work and achievements of 1,465 graduates who were awarded a total of 1,658 degrees. This year’s cohort was made up of students whose high school graduations were cancelled or significantly reduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the excitement was high for this graduating class and their families.

On Saturday, out of the nearly 1,500 students graduating, 205 were awarded associate degrees, 909 baccalaureate degrees, 5 graduate certificates and 78 master's degrees. Additionally, and certainly not surprising with CMU making it an institutional priority to elevate career and technical education, CMU Tech certificate recipients accounted for a significant portion of this year’s graduating class, with 376 students receiving 471 degrees and certificates.

CMU continues to serve first-generation students, with 42% of this year’s class being the first in their family to graduate. Furthermore, the representation of western Colorado graduates (48%) was prominent and aligns with CMU’s mission to serve students on this part of the state.

The Spring 2024 commencement ceremonies served as a testament to the curiosity, courage and resiliency of the graduating class, as well as the unwavering support of faculty, staff, families and the broader community.

The commencement ceremonies took place on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 8am and 11:30am at Stocker Stadium and streamed online.

As CMU continues to foster an environment founded on a set of values, the university remains committed to empowering graduates to go out and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
