The Investiture Cremony was the first in Colorado Mesa Univesersity's nearly 100-year history

On Friday, October 22, the Colorado Mesa Board of Trustees welcomed John Marshall as the 11th president of Colorado Mesa University with a formal Investiture Ceremony. To celebrate this new chapter and the important work happening at CMU, the Board of Trustees, student leaders, faculty, staff, CMU supporters as well as Marshall’s family and friends attended the Investiture Ceremony in Robinson Theatre.

Reverend Bruce Hemphill, Marshall's uncle, led the invocation. There were welcome speeches by Vice President for Academic Affairs Kurt Haas, PhD, Board of Trustees Chair Alison Griffin, Board of Trustees Secretary and Investiture Committee Chair Kasia Iwaniczko-MacLeod, Professor of Political Science and Faculty Trustee Tim Casey, PhD, Student Trustee Aaron Reed and Associated Student Government President Jay Shearrow. Honored speakers at the ceremony were United States Marine Corps Major Cameron Marshall, Marshall's brother, and CMU President Emeritus Tim Foster. The ceremony culminated with remarks from President Marshall who shared his Human Scale University vision for this institution. 

The Investiture Ceremony was the culmination of a month-long celebration dubbed the Maverick Momentum Tour. The tour included panels and events throughout the state.
