On Wednesday, September 19 at
Graham Anduri, baritone, will perform Hear Me O Lord, from the opera Susannah, an American opera written by Carlisle Floyd as an indictment of the witch-hunt mentality of McCarthyism. Anduri will be accompanied by Arthur Houle, piano. Houle will also accompany cellist Kristen Yeon-Ji Yun on two pieces — Sonata in A Minor for Arpeggione & Piano by Franz Schubert and Lonesome Stars, a composition of his own. Arpeggione is a six-stringed instrument, tuned and fretted like a guitar but bowed like a cello. As this instrument fell out of favor, this piece is now often performed on cello. Houle will perform a solo piece as well, another of his own compositions titled Homage to Bill Evans.
Tickets are available online at coloradomesa.edu/tickets or at the door the night of the performance.
