Q&A: What is the application process for the FAFSA?

To apply for federal financial aid, submit a FAFSA at www.studentaid.gov. To fill out a FAFSA, you need to create a student and parent (if applicable) FSA ID consisting of a username and password.  

• Your FSA ID will be your username and login to the FAFSA application.
• It will also be your electronic signature on the FAFSA.
• Keep it handy because you will need it every year you fill out the FAFSA.
• If your parent's information is needed on the FAFSA, you will need both yours and your parent's tax information from two years ago.
