Colorado Mesa University offers a unique opportunity for students that are interested in progressing through various levels of nursing licensure. CMU is the only program in the state that encourages the student to obtain an entry level license, enter the work field and then return to further their education.

Nursing Degree path

Graduates of CMU nursing programs will have the opportunity to sit for their board license exams. Students who complete the Practical Nursing (PN) program have the opportunity to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN). Graduate of the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing or one of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing options can become Registered Nurses (RN).

Completion of the Practical Nurse certificate allows students to progress to the Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (LPN-BSN) program. The LPN-BSN option is available on both the main Grand Junction and the Montrose campuses. The Montrose campus offers more rural health clinical opportunities and is designed to expose students to healthcare in a small town atmosphere.

Students also have the option to complete the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program, unique to the Montrose Campus, and then can continue in our RN to BSN program online.
