Maverick alumnus Loren Paulson is a native of western Colorado. While attending Mesa College, now Colorado Mesa University, he began working as a seasonal employee with the U.S. Forest Service. Throughout his career, he enjoyed a variety of duties within the agency but stayed involved in wildland fire operations through it all. After more than 35 years of service, Paulson retired from the U.S. Forest Service in September 2023, and in October, began his “next chapter” at CMU Tech.
Paulson currently resides in Loma with his wife, Sandy. They have three children and enjoy growing hay and raising a variety of animals. Paulson is excited about the opportunity to help train future firefighters and to promote the placement of graduating students within wildland fire agencies.
