Getting Started with Your Research
If you are a CMU Tech faculty, staff or student, a great place to begin your research is through OneSearch, a simple and fast search tool that allows you to search simultaneously for books, articles and more. OneSearch brings together trustworthy content from our subscribed e-journals, databases, and our library catalog in a single search.
You can begin by entering keywords in the search box and press Search. In this example, we are doing research on immigration, so we typed "immigration" in the search box.
Since we received over a million results, we will refine our search using the All Filters option.
Anyone can get a list of results using OneSearch, but access to full-text content is restricted to CMU Tech faculty, staff and currently enrolled students. From the result list, select Access Options to access full text. You will be asked to login with your MAVzone account.

What is a database? A database is an electronic collection of published works, either full text articles, video, music, citations, or abstracts of articles (or chapters in books). Most databases have a full-text option you can choose so that only full text articles (available to you) will appear in the search results.
