Mission Statement:
The Mission of the Hutchins Water Center at Colorado Mesa University is to perform and facilitate interdisciplinary and collaborative research, education, outreach, and dialogue to address the water issues facing the Upper Colorado River Basin.

Purpose of the Water Center:

 
The Upper Colorado basin is facing increasing demands on water resources, and there are many unanswered questions about how these demands could affect the region's environment and communities. The Water Center at CMU seeks to coordinate research, education and dialogue on these issues.
 
Studying Water at Colorado Mesa University
 
  • Colorado Mesa University offers three degree and certificate programs focused on water: an interdisciplinary Watershed Science minor, an Associate in Applied Science degree in Sustainable Agriculture, and a River Studies & Leadership Certificate.
  • Faculty in both the natural sciences and the social sciences have expertise in water issues.
  • CMU also sponsors continuing education classes and seminars for the general public; updated information on these offerings is available on the events page.
  • Colorado Mesa University's library has a digital Western Water Resources Collection.
  • We're compiling a collection of Colorado Basin Teaching Resources
